Frozen French Fries

Fried potatoes are an indispensable snack that our children especially love. It is also the best friend of meatballs, grilled meat and kebabs. Pre-boiling potatoes and storing them in the freezer will save you time. At the same time, it will provide you with the opportunity to bring fast food flavors to your table economically. Enjoy your meal!

Ingredients:

For 4 people
🕐 Preparation: 45 min.
Potatoes (Large For Frying) 2 Kg.
Water (Hot) 4 Liters
Rock Salt 4 Tbsp
Vinegar 2 Tbsp

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the potatoes in water. Peel them and wash them again in plenty of water.
  2. Chop the washed and drained potatoes so that they are 1 cm thick and the same size. You can reserve the round edges for another recipe. (You can chop these pieces into cubes and use them as a garnish)
  3. Since potatoes can easily oxidize and darken, keep them in salt water while chopping, in an airtight container.
  4. Fill your roasting pan with a wire strainer with water and add 1 tablespoon of salt and vinegar. You can also pre-boil it in a normal pot. However, to ensure that they are all at the same doneness, a pot with a strainer is a much better method.
  5. Boil the potatoes for about 4-5 minutes and when they are soft enough to insert a toothpick, remove them using a wire strainer from the pot and immediately run them under running water. Then put it in a bowl filled with ice-cold water and cool it. The purpose of this process is to prevent the potatoes from continuing their cooking time by shocking them.
  6. Take the cooled potatoes out of the water and drain them. Spread it on a tray and remove excess water by turning it occasionally on a paper towel. The potatoes must be thoroughly dried to prevent them from becoming icy and causing problems during frying.
  7. Place your dried potatoes neatly in the freezer bag. Make sure there is no excess air by pressing it with your hand. Check and mix the potatoes you put in the freezer every 1-2 hours to make sure they do not stick to each other. Now you have frozen potatoes that you can use throughout the year. Enjoy your meal!
  8. Cooking suggestion: Heat the oil in a deep pan or frying pan and turn it to medium heat. Remove the potatoes from the freezer and dry them on paper towels. Add 1/4 cup flour, 1/4 cup starch, 1 teaspoon salt to a kitchen bag. Dip the potatoes in this mixture and fry them in 3-4 batches without getting too dense. Remove it on a paper towel, season it with salt and pepper, and serve hot.
