Chickpea Dish With Minced Meat

A single hot pot, a warm mother's meal. With rice and pickles on the side, our chickpea dish, one of the classics of Turkish cuisine, will taste like the fancy plates of invitation tables and will gather the whole family together with its scent. Moreover, it is economical. A perfect winter meal, full of bitterness and flavor! Enjoy your meal!

Ingredients:

For: 4 People
Prep: 10 Min
Cook: 30 Min
Chickpeas 1.5   Cup
Ground Beef (Medium Fat) 250   Grams
Dry Onion 2   Qty
Olive Oil 2   Tbsp
Butter 3   Tbsp
Pepper Paste 1   Tbsp
Tomato Paste 1   Tbsp
Powdered Red Pepper 1   Tsp (large)
Black Pepper 1   Tsp
Cumin 1   Tsp
Salt 1   Tsp (large)

Steps:

  1. Drain the chickpeas that you soaked the night before. Heat the butter and olive oil in a pressure cooker or cast iron saucepan, and first fry the finely chopped onion and a crushed clove of garlic.
  2. Cut the peppers in half, remove the seeds and finely chop. Add the fried onions and continue frying.
  3. Add the minced meat to the roasted mortar and fry until it turns brown and the minced meat absorbs its juice, add the tomato paste and after a few minutes add the drained chickpeas to the pot and continue sautéing.
  4. After adding salt, pepper and other spices, add enough hot water to cover it by four fingers.
  5. Close the pressure cooker or cooker and cook on low heat for 15 minutes in pressure cooker and 45 minutes in pot.
  6. Let your cooked food rest for at least 10-15 minutes with the lid closed and serve warm or hot. Plain rice pilaf suits the chickpea dish with minced meat, and we recommend you to try it with bulgur pilaf with vegetables. Enjoy your meal!
  7. Note: You can cook this dish in a controlled time with pre-boiled chickpeas.
