Shepherd Salad

Shepherd's Salad is one of the classic salads of Turkish cuisine. It is widely said that it is called "shepherd's salad" because it is made with simple ingredients such as tomatoes and peppers, which are also called "shepherd's food" in the Thrace region. Shepherd's salad, which is colorful and rich in vitamins and minerals, goes well with almost every meal, and is frequently preferred especially in summer months. Enjoy your meal!

Tomato (Medium size) 2   Qty
Dry Onion (Medium size) 1   Qty
Cucumber (Medium size) 1   Qty
Green Pointed Pepper 3   Qty
Parsley (Leaf) 1   Pinch
Lemon Juice (Fresh-squeezed) 1   Tbsp
Ground White Pepper (Or Black Pepper) 1   Tsp
Olive Oil (Extra Virgin) 2   Tbsp
Fine Salt 1   Tsp
Black Olive (Seedless) 10   Qty

Steps:

  1. Wash all the ingredients and drain the water on a paper towel. Peel the onion, chop finely in a separate bowl, sprinkle with salt and rub lightly.
  2. Chop the tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers into cubes. Rinse the salted onions and drain the excess water.
  3. Put all the ingredients on a serving plate and mix. Finely chop the parsley leaves and add. Drizzle olive oil and lemon juice over the salad and mix for a while. Check your salt. Garnish with lemon slices, parsley and black olives and serve cold. Enjoy your meal!
  4. Note: You can also serve this salad by adding colored bell peppers and garnishing it with diced white cheese.
